Houston Texas Moving Truck Rentals

Houston Texas moving truck rentals offer different types of trucks for different services. Moving truck rentals allow the client to drive the truck on their own or, for an additional charge, the mover can provide a truck driver as some of the trucks can only be driven by a professional and experienced truck driver.

When self moving, often one needs to rent a truck for transporting their belongings as some large or delicate items cannot be moved using normal vehicles. But the mover needs to choose a particular type of truck to suit the move. A truck also allows the mover to do things like towing and hauling.

Moving trucks generally fall under three categories. These are: light, medium and heavy trucks. Light trucks are used for small or light-weight items such as utensils and clothes. Examples of light trucks are pick-up tracks, panel vans and minivans. Medium trucks transport medium-sized items such as furniture and grand pianos. They include box trucks and delivery trucks. Heavy trucks carry very heavy cargo such as cars. They include log trucks and truck-mounted cranes. Auto transporters usually use heavy trucks.

Here is a brief description of the commonly used types of rental moving trucks.

A panel van is a rigid-bodied or solid truck with no rear-side windows. They have less cargo space than other trucks but they allow easy maneuverability in heavy traffic or passing through narrow streets

Refrigerated trucks are used to transport mainly foodstuffs. The temperature levels in the truck can be regulated and kept at optimum conditions so that the food does not spoil.

A parcel van allows you to haul the truck. The cargo is secured and shifting is prevented. The cargo area is accessible without alighting from the van. A pull-out ramp is also available. The parcel van is used to haul large cargo such as grand pianos.

A box truck is also known as a cube truck, cube van, bob truck, box van, or straight truck. They have cube-shaped cargo areas. Box trucks are usually used by movers that need to haul appliances or furniture.

A pick-up truck is used for moving small items over a short distance. The rear cargo is open and sometimes separated from the cab to allow for chassis flex when pulling heavy loads.

Canopy trucks are an improvement of the pick-up truck. The difference between the two is that the latter has a closed rear cargo area. It is used for moving items that require quick access such as newspapers and radio equipment.

In conclusion, whatever type of move you need to make in Houston determines the type of truck you will use. Using the wrong transport can result in damage to your belongings.
